Insects Cause Problems Both Indoors and Out
|The broad spectrum effectiveness of pyrethrins makes it a valuable tool to control common househould insect pests from ants to yellow jackets. In the home, pyrethrin products help people protect themselves and their families from both nusiance pests and those that can transmit diseases. In the garden, insect presence should be monitored so harmful insect populations don't get a chance to enjoy your fruits and vegetables before you do.
As with any other insecticide, when applying a pyrethrum insecticide the applicator is responsible for reading the label and making applications in accordance with it. The product label will indicate the reentry interval after treatment or the amount of time you should wait before harvesting. Since pyrethrins work on contact, to get the best insect control it should be applied to surfaces where the insect either already is, or where they will enter into contact with the spray in a relatively short amount of time.
If you look at the active ingredient list on products at your local retailer you may find pyrethrins in products such as:
- Ant & Roach Sprays
- Flying Insect Killers
- Flea and Tick Sprays
- Wasp & Hornet Sprays
- Indoor Foggers
- Plant Sprays
